| Forest Stewardship Planning |
Forest Stewardship Planning is a process for bringing together information on the condition and potential of the land with the landowner's needs and ability to care for the land. The result is a plan which provides realistic detailed actions to achieve the landowners objectives over at least a ten year period. Our plans meet Wisconsin DNR, Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) standards, including plans which qualify for Managed Forest Law (MFL) entry.
Clark Forestry, Inc. provides forest management plans with an emphasis on ecologically oriented, sustainable management. In Wisconsin, sustainable Forest Stewardship Plans should:
- Identify sensitive areas
- Inventory species and natural communities
- Prioritize management
- Estimate costs and revenue stream
- Pursue cost-sharing if warranted.
Our approach is not for everyone. Where our plans call for harvesting, we prepare detailed harvest schedules and prescriptions for supplemental management. We utilize natural processes and favor native species wherever possible.
We also assist clients in managing for non-commercial values. Where management for "old growth", savanna, oak woodland, prairie restoration, etc... is a goal, we can help find creative techniques for converting those values into realistic objectives.
